Our Work - WFA Programs, Campaigns and Strategic Alliances

1.

Darith Phat, PhD, MS, MBA. Mr. Phat is the president of the World Foundation for Asia (WFA). He founded for-profit and non-profit companies and raised over one hundred million dollars in the US and Asia. He has over 12 years of academic experience with leading universities and industrial experience with biotech and major multinational pharmaceutical companies.

2.

Sharma Prehlad, CPA, MBA. Mr. Sharma is the secretary general and treasurer of WFA. He has over 25 years of experience in numerous industries, primarily in the areas of business consulting, taxation, accounting, financial reporting and auditing. He is currently Internal Auditor for a major agency.

3.

David M. Vincent, JD. Mr. Vincent has a JD from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Economics. His past experience includes work in software development and database management. He is currently an associate at Allen & Ovary in London.

4.

Victoria Ngo-Phat, MBA. Mrs. Ngo-Phat has over 18 years of experience with information systems as product and project manager dealing with syndicated loans, funds transfers, and checking and saving with major multinational banking institutions. She is currently Vice-President of Project Management at a major US multinational bank.

5.

Christopher Sparks, MAT. Mr. Sparks received his Masters of Arts in Teaching from Brown University in 2008. He has experience teaching in a variety of educational settings, including schools in Italy and India. He currently teaches Humanities at the Haddonfield Friends School in Haddonfield, New Jersey.

WFA Advisory Board

1.

Samdech Preah Sangharaja Bour KryHis Holiness is the seventh and current Supreme Patriarch of the Dhammayuttika order of Cambodia. After the dark years in Cambodian history, Sangharaja Bour Kry assisted in the reconstruction and redevelopment of Buddhist schools and monasteries. The number of Dhammayuttika monasteries has since grown to over 150. The Preah Sihanouk Dhammadhiraj Buddhist Institute was founded in 1995 with the goal of education and professional training for Cambodia's poorest youth, the revitalization of Buddhist teachings, and the introduction of Cambodian youth to Khmer culture and traditions. His Holiness has been involved in addressing the spread of AIDS, participating in international discussions on the topic and encouraging the role of the monastery in disseminating health information. He has also been active in spreading information concerning drug and cigarette dependence in Cambodia.

Neil Nerou Cheng, CPA, PC, MBA. Mr. Cheng has over 25 years of experience in the non-profit industry in auditing and financial management. He has served as treasurer for a number of non-profit organizations like the Chinese-American Planning Council, Gilda's Club Worldwide, and Pan Asian Repertory Theater. He is currently Principal Partner of Neil Cheng Accounting Firm, founder of Angkor Hospital for Children in Cambodia, and Director of the Board and Treasurer of the non-profit organization Friends Without a Border (FWAB).

Pierre-Louis Curien, PhD. Professor Curien is a mathematician and specialist of the semantics of programming languages . He is also Paris City Councilor. A graduate from the Ecole Normale Supérieure of Paris, he has set up and been the director of the laboratory PPS (Proofs, Programs and Systems, Paris Diderot University and CNRS), which has become a major center worldwide around programming languages and proof theory.

Mrs. Longteine "Nyep" de Monteiro Mrs. deMonteiro is a well-known founding chef and owner of the chain of Elephant Walk restaurants in Massachusetts. Her late husband Kenthao de Monteiro was a law professor, judge, Minister of Education, Congressman, National Assembly Vice President in Cambodia, and Cambodia's Ambassador to Taiwan in 1971.

Bishop Emile Destombes. The Most Reverend Bishop Destombes was born on August 15, 1935,  inRoncq,France. He joined the Paris Foreign Missions Society (MEP) and did his studies at the Seminary of Paris Foreign Missions and at the Sorbonne University in Paris. He was ordained priest on December 21, 1961, and came to Cambodia in 1964. He was later consecrated Bishop of the See of Altava and took care of the Phnom Penh Apostolic Vicariate as Coadjutor of the Apostolic Vicar on October 5, 1997. On April 14, 2001, Bishop Emile Destombes took charge of the Apostolic Vicariate of Phnom Penh, after the succession of Bishop Yves Ramousse and is concurrently president of Catholic Bishops' Conference of Laos and Cambodia (CELAC).

Venerable Dr Dhamathero Kim Marshall. Venerable Dhamathero has been a Theravada Buddhist monk since 1994. He is a disciple of his Holiness Mohagosananda, late Patriarch Buddhist Monk of Cambodia. He is former Director General of Cambodian army health service and Minister of Health and Commerce.
 

7.

Daniel F. Moegelin - Webmaster, B.S. Biology, M.Ed. Science Education, C.A.G.S Educational Administration, Certified ESL teacher. Mr. Moegelin has forty years of public education experience as a science teacher and school administrator. He currently teaches ESL at the Seed Center in Quincy, Massachusetts, and runs his own website design and maintenance business. He teaches webpage design and is the webmaster at Project Contemporary Competitiveness, a summer program for talented high school students at Stonehill College. He is the webmaster for several business websites and former webmaster for the Avon Public Schools Avon, Massachusetts.

Ms. Narin Seng Jameson.  Ms. Seng Jameson is a Global HIV/AIDS Program officer of the World Bank.

9.

Swami Tyagananda. Tyaganandaji is a Hindu monk of the Ramakrishna Order. He became a monk 28 years ago after graduating from the University of Bombay, India. He was assigned to the Vedanta Society in Boston in 1998. He is author of numerous books on Vedanta and had been invited to conduct extensive retreat seminars on Vedanta. He is presently the Hindu Chaplain of Harvard University and MIT, and President of Vedanta Society in Boston, Massachusetts.

Swami Veetamohananda.  Veetamohanandaji is a Hindu monk of the Ramakrishna Order. He is author of numerous books on Vedanta and had been invited to conduct extensive seminars on Vedanta at top academic institutions throughout Europe. He is presently President of the branch center of Ramakrishna Mission in Gretz, France.

Swami Yogatmananda. Yogatmanandaji is the Hindu Chaplain at Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, and the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. Swami is a monk of the Ramakrishna Order. He joined the Ramakrishna Order in 1976 and received his monastic vows in 1986. After being at Ramakrishna Math Center at Nagpur, India for 20 years, he was posted as the Head of Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong, Meghalaya, India. He has been invited to preach Vedanta at different places in the United States. He is presently President of Vedanta Society in Providence, RI.
 

 

Past Board Members of WFA

1.

Bijoy Misra, PhD. Dr. Misra is a physicist by training and has held teaching positions at Harvard and MIT. He was the first Indian to receive the World Meteorological Organization Award for Young Scientists and has distinguished himself as the author of several  award-winning research papers. He has lately been interested in languages and phonetics and is preparing a book on knowledge classification formulating a comprehensive knowledge model. Dr. Misra has been active in  local community affairs to assist and organize events for a long time. He was instrumental in reinvigorating the India Association of Greater Boston to establish the popular India Day event held every year at the Hatch Memorial Shell Esplanade.
 

2.

Doug Rauch, MBA. Mr. Rauch is recent past president of Trader Joe’s company. In his over 31 years with Trader Joe’s Company (the last fourteen as President), Doug Rauch played a pivotal role in their growth from a small retail chain in Southern California with nine locations, to a nationally acclaimed retail success story with more than 340 stores in 27 states. Having retired from Trader Joe’s in 2008, Doug currently is a fellow at Harvard’s Advanced Leadership Initiative, a trustee at Olin College of Engineering, and serves on a number of for-profit and non-profit boards.
